Job Description:

Summary

Bookbyte is looking for a Data Scientist who is passionate about statistical analysis and interested in playing a critical role in influencing the company’s analytics and machine learning strategies. The Data Scientist works collaboratively in the Business Intelligence team and serves as an important business partner to other mission critical departments who rely on this role to interpret the complexity of Bookbyte’s vast array of eCommerce data. This role will be responsible for heavy analysis of complex data spanning our entire business spectrum. To be successful, you must have strong hands-on skills in data analysis, statistical analysis, machine learning, and reporting/visualization.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Use statistical methods to analyze data and formulate insight into the business.
  • Translate business requirements and technical designs into well-developed solutions that meet business data and KPI goals.
  • Work in multi-disciplined team where you will turn ideas into machine learning models and use the output to drive data-driven strategy and decision making across the company.
  • Mentor team members and assist in cross-training.
  • Create and maintain database and process documentation.

Experience and Skills:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • At least 5 years’ professional experience in data-based analysis showing strong analytical, statistical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in machine learning algorithms and tools to implement them.
  • Strong experience around data analysis, data profiling, and data cleansing techniques.
  • Advanced experience with R, Python or similar statistical analysis software and applicable statistical packages.
  • Experience with relational and non-relational databases.
  • Proficiency with SQL Server.
  • Ability to break down solutions, identify root causes, and recommend solutions.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Analytics, Econometrics, or related field.
  • Master’s in Data Science or related field is a plus.
  • Experience with AWS and/or Azure based analytics products.
  • Exposure to big data tools such as Hive, Pig, Spark and cloud based big data solutions.
