Job Description:

Summary

The Senior Business Intelligence Developer (SBID) works collaboratively with the Business Intelligence team and is a business partner to Bookbyte’s Software Engineering team and Executive Management. The SBID will design, implement and support business intelligence and data warehouse solutions by optimizing/refactoring data as well as providing some database administration.

Specifically, this developer will be responsible for the maintenance and improvement of Bookbyte’s data integration which support multiple business channels of operation. The SBID will provide company-wide business intelligence expertise with emphasis on data design, access, usage, security and quality of information assets.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Must be able to act in the role of domain expert for Business Intelligence reporting & dashboards.
  • Translate business requirements and technical designs into well-developed solutions that meets business data and KPI goals.
  • Designing database queries, views, stored procedures and functions for reporting and data analytics using MS SQL Server.
  • Design and implement technology best practices, guidelines and repeatable processes.
  • Evaluate and assess capabilities of new technologies and Business Intelligence tools as required.
  • Optimize and refactor SQL databases and database objects; ETL processes, reporting and analytic solutions in support of business needs.
  • Mentor team members and assist in cross-training.
  • Database documentation.

Experience and Skills:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science is preferred.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in data modeling, development, implementation and support of transactional databases and data warehouses.
  • Expert level experience in SQL
  • Experience with Business Intelligence reporting and analytical tools. (Power BI, QuickSight etc.)
  • Experience working on cloud based platforms. (AWS, Azure)
  • Extensive ETL experience (SSIS, AWS Glue, python)
  • Data warehouse experience (AWS redshift, Azure SQL Data Warehouse)
  • Big data experience (Hadoop and spark, AWS Data lake, Azure Data Lake)
  • Advanced expertise in performance monitoring and optimization.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking & problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with meta-data repository technologies.
  • Passionate about mentoring and teaching others.
  • Excellent communication skills - speaks and writes clearly and concisely
