Job Description:

If you’re an experience financial analyst with strong corporate finance background who has always wanted to be the lead player in running a FP&A operation this job is for you. Bookbyte is an eCommerce merchant that buys, sells and rents used college textbooks through a variety of inbound and outbound channels, both retail and wholesale. With an innovative culture Bookbyte is always looking at new business opportunities and the FP&A person will be instrumental in guiding the management team to the best business decision.
The Bookbyte Financial Analyst will be responsible for the financial planning and analysis function for Bookbyte. The ideal candidate will have experience with developing financial forecasts, managing the annual and long range planning process, and being able to develop financial models to evaluate new business opportunities. Strong business partnership skills with the ability to work cross functionally with technical people in the operations as well as the management team. This business moves fast and requires someone who can apply financial concepts and discipline in new areas as they develop. Being able to work with a minimal level of supervision and make their own initiatives will be a key aspect of a successful person in this role.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • ? Providing accurate and timely financial information to management (decision support, business planning)
  • ? Manage the monthly forecast process
  • ? Developing profitability models for new projects and products.
  • ? Analyzing and interpreting financial results and forecasts (variance analysis, P&L impact)
  • ? Providing key business and financial guidance to the organization (budgeting and forecasting)
  • ? Strong business partnership skills with ability to work with technical people in the operations and management at all levels of the company
  • ? Key player in developing the annual operating plan, as well as projecting long range financial models
  • ? Good general knowledge of accounting concepts to be a liaison to the accounting team to help develop alignment between accounting process and forecast requirements
  • ? Working with cross-functional teams on new product development (pricing, cost impact, investment analysis)
  • ? Prepare technical reports aimed at collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends.
  • ? Improve financial status by analyzing results, variances, identifying trends and recommending actions to the company's senior executives.
  • ? Provide information to management by assembling and summarizing data; preparing easy to understand reports and presentations.
  • ? Contract management to understand future financial impacts and ensure compliance with our contract terms

Experience and Skills:

Minimum Job Requirements

  • ? A Bachelor's Degree in business administration or finance and 5-10 years of related
  • corporate finance experience
  • ? A MBA or CMA is a plus
  • ? Special consideration will be given to candidates who have experience working in a similar position within the eCommerce or other technology industries

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required

  • ? Basic understanding of accounting processes and principles
  • ? Solid understanding of financial statements and developing financial reports
  • ? Strong understanding and experience with financial models of inventory
  • ? Ability to perform complex analysis such as forecasting, price-volume-mix and contribution margin analysis
  • ? Strong financial model architecture and model building experience
  • ? Ability to convey complex information to a broad audience
  • ? Fluency in speaking, reading, and/or writing English
  • ? Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
  • ? Strong financial analysis and evaluation skills
  • ? Ability to foster a cooperative work environment
  • ? Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • ? Ability to prioritize responsibilities in a dynamic, fluctuating work environment
  • ? Ability to understand and follow written and spoken instructions
  • ? Experience creating and presenting reports/presentations to management and coworkers
